Behind FØNS’ sound lies a universe where honesty and vulnerability meet raw energy. Inspired by hip-hop and R&B, he creates stories that feel just as authentic as they are relatable. His music reflects the sharp contrasts of youth – from hope and dreams to doubt and adversity – wrapped in a sound that both captivates and challenges.
In 2024, FØNS made his mark with two strong releases. His debut EP, Ridser I Lakken, was released in April and featured six tracks capturing the reflections and ambitions of a young artist. In November, he followed up with Forplejning – an EP exploring money and designer clothing from the perspective of a young man reflecting on values and society’s focus on materialism. Forplejning is an authentic commentary on capitalism and offers a unique insight into FØNS’ journey as an artist in Denmark.
GAFFA awarded the EP four stars and described FØNS as a “promising Danish underground rapper who gives an impression of having it all under control”. The release of Forplejning came just five days before FØNS’ first headline show at Ideal Bar, which had sold out a month in advance. On November 20, 2024, FØNS transformed the stage into an intimate and energetic space, leaving the audience with the feeling that they had experienced something truly special.
FØNS made an impression from the very beginning with his debut single Leve Med, which was selected as Ugens Upcoming on Danish national radio station DR P3. The single was praised for its honest lyrics and catchy production, while his track 23:30 was highlighted by Bands of Tomorrow as an intense and compelling portrayal of the pulse of nightlife.
With roots in the hip-hop and pop of the 2000s and 2010s, Fed and Phil have created a distinctive sound where rap, humour, energy and sharp musicianship come together. Their universe is characterised by self-irony, pop culture references and an attitude that is both playful and precise.
The duo, consisting of Thomas Vejbæk (Fed) and Philip Frandsen (Lille Philip), have quickly gone from SoundCloud experiments to more than 25,000 monthly listeners, over one million streams and growing national attention – driven by both their distinctive sound and their strong presence on social media.
Their journey began by chance in a summerhouse in Kolding, where a freestyle and a spontaneous conversation developed into a creative partnership. During the COVID-19 lockdown, they got the opportunity to seriously pursue music, and after their first releases, they quickly began building a growing fanbase.
The major turning point came when Fed, through a well-planned move, managed to book the duo for a high school party as their debut concert. Instead of starting out in front of a small audience, they found themselves performing for 500 high school students who knew their lyrics by heart. The experience was a clear sign that their music resonated far beyond their immediate circle.
A key part of their brand is Fed’s TikTok universe, where his distinctive persona has gained widespread recognition. His quirky, humorous and confident “very good bad boy” character has made the duo highly visible among younger audiences and paved the way for viral moments.
